It was an intense game for LHMC, with in the first ten minutes Preston were awarded the first goal. However the team quickly recovered, as almost straight away Joanne Inman drove the ball down the line and made a cross straight to Annabelle Cartmell, who did a powerful slap into the bottom right corner, making the game 1-1.
With a great interception from Pam Fawcett, the ball was played out wide where Kirsty drove the ball at speed towards the goal and placed it on a defenders foot. Unfortunately the umpires made an incorrect call in Preston’s favour, awarding them a hit out. This then lead to Preston making a break through LMHC’s defence, although Catherine Nichol made some strong saves allowing LMHC’s defenders and midfielders to get back it resulted in Preston scoring a goal, taking the score to 2-1.
However LMHC came back even stronger winning yet another short corner where Pam did a straight strike, although this was blocked by the keeper, LMHC were awarded a long corner where Kirsty drove the ball along the backline and did a strong pass to Annabelle Cartmell who scored another powerful goal, taking the score to 2-2.
LMHC started the second-half strong by keeping possession and passing the ball around until there was chance to play the ball. Beth Clelland made a break through Preston’s defence winning a short corner for LMHC, where Joanne Inman did a powerful push to Kirsty who placed the ball in the bottom left corner.
LMHC were strong keeping Preston from breaking through for most of the second half until fifteen minutes before the final whistle, Preston played the ball through the middle to a striker who slapped the ball in the bottom right corner.
LMHC unsurprisingly, with good teamwork and perseverance won several short corners in the final ten minutes and were awarded the final goal of the game with a strong pass from out wide Annabelle Cartmell earned her hatrick, doing yet another powerful slap into the bottom right corner.
Making the final score 4-3 to LMHC
