3. Reporting a Concern


To report a safeguarding or welfare concern at Lancaster and Morecambe Hockey Club following the EH (England Hockey) protocol, where Verity McMann is the designated Welfare Officer, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Immediate Concern or Emergency
If the concern involves an immediate danger to the well-being of a young person or another individual, contact the appropriate authorities or emergency services immediately (e.g., call 999 or your local emergency number). Ensuring the safety of the individual is the top priority.

Step 2: Contact the Welfare Officer
If the concern does not require immediate emergency intervention but is related to safeguarding or welfare within the club, contact Verity McMann, the designated Welfare Officer for Lancaster and Morecambe Hockey Club. You can reach out to her through one or more of the following methods:

Phone: Call Verity McMann directly if her contact number is available.
Email: Send an email to the designated Welfare Officer at the email address provided by the club. vbroganlmhc@gmail.com
In-Person: If you know Verity McMann's location during club activities, approach her in person to discuss your concern.

Should Verity McMann not be available please raise the issue with a committee member who will pass this on.

Step 3: Provide Details
When you contact Verity McMann, be prepared to provide as much information as possible about the concern. This should include:

  • A clear and concise description of the concern, including any specific incidents, individuals involved, dates, and locations.
  • Any evidence or documentation related to the concern, if available.
  • Your contact information, in case the Welfare Officer needs to follow up with you.

Step 4: Confidentiality
Please be assured that your report will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. It is essential to maintain the privacy and dignity of all individuals involved.

Step 5: Follow-Up
The designated Welfare Officer, Verity McMann, will initiate the necessary actions as per England Hockey's safeguarding procedures. This may include conducting further investigations, contacting relevant authorities, and providing support to those affected.

Step 6: Stay Informed
Stay in touch with the Welfare Officer and cooperate fully in any investigations or follow-up actions. Your involvement may be essential in ensuring a thorough and appropriate response to the concern.
