Recognizing the profound connection between physical health and mental well-being, Lancaster and Morecambe Hockey Club is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and support within our community. Engaging in physical activities like hockey is known to have substantial benefits for mental well-being, and in today's world, where the need to safeguard our mental health has never been more pressing, we aim to provide valuable resources to our members.
A recent survey by Public Health England highlights the prevalence of early signs of poor mental well-being, with 83% of respondents reporting feelings of anxiety, stress, low mood, or sleep troubles in the past year. While these feelings can be a natural response to life's challenges, they can escalate without intervention.
Aligned with the broader vision of England Hockey, we are committed to educating and supporting our members on their mental well-being journey. By raising awareness and providing resources, we strive to create a welcoming environment where conversations about mental health and well-being are commonplace, thus breaking down the stigma surrounding these issues.
Utilizing the powerful platform of sport and following the framework of the Five Ways to Well-being, our goal is to assist everyone involved in our club in achieving their mental well-being aspirations and nurturing healthy minds. You'll find numerous valuable resources to aid you in reaching these goals on our website.
